Abu Sir is a village affiliated with the Badrashin Center in Giza Governorate, and an important historical site containing a “city of cemeteries,” a number of pyramids, a mastaba, and other antiquities.

Its pyramids represent part of the ancient Egyptian chain of pyramids, which extends south from the pyramids of Giza and then passes through Abu Sir, Saqqara and Dahshur. The Fifth Dynasty used the Abu Sir area for its tombs after the Giza area was filled with Fourth Dynasty tombs and pyramids.

One of the most important monuments contained in the Abu Sir area is the pyramid of King Sahu Ra, who ruled for fourteen years after King Userkaf, and his pyramid was built on the far northern side of this region. This pyramid includes a funerary temple, and at its end is the Valley Temple, which displays It was destroyed as a result of its use as a quarry in previous eras.

At a close distance from King Sahu Ra, King Neferirkare, the third king of that dynasty, built his pyramid group, which is similar to the group of King Sahu Ra, but on a larger scale. However, he did not live until this building was completed, so his successor rose to the throne. By completing this building, but with mud bricks, his pyramid is considered one of the largest pyramids in that region, as its height was approximately 70 meters and its side length was 106 meters.

Abu Sir is a beautiful place, although there is not much to see, but as long as you are in the Giza area to visit the pyramids and the Saqqara Pyramid, you are nearby, so you can stop by to visit them.
