The Book of Caves, or what is known as the Book of Tombs, is an Egyptian funerary book. The book talks about the underworld and this book appeared in the era of the New Kingdom. The texts of the book were engraved in the tombs of the kings in the belief that it would help them in their journey to the afterlife.Book of caves:1- The Book of Cave describes a journey after death in which the dead goes to the sun god Ra.2- The deceased passes through 6 caves, which are the underworld, and there is a relationship between the god “Ra” and the inhabitants of the underworld.3- The relationship comes from the way of giving rewards to the righteous and punishments to the corrupt people.4- The deceased goes through a trial before the god Osiris, and the book dates back to the 13th century BC, and this era is called the Ramesside era.5- The old copy of the book is located on one of the walls of the Osiris in Abydos, which dates back to the reign of Pharaoh Merneptah.6- Texts have also been found from the tomb of Ramesses IV located in the Valley of the Kings.Tombs inscribed with texts from the Book of the Cave:1- The tomb of Ramses IV in the Valley of the Kings contains the first and second paintings, dating back to the middle of the twelfth century BC.2- The texts of the book come almost entirely from the tomb of Ramesses VI in the Valley of the Kings, and the texts are located at the top of the tomb.3- There are also stone casts found on Rawda Island containing the first and second stela.4- The “Teoyhorptu” coffin also contains the first, second, fifth and sixth panels and dates back to the fourth century BC.5- The “General Pettis” coffin contains one scene from the book.6- The “Cartonage” mummy has a cover engraved with a scene from the book.7- The tomb of the governor “Mintu Umm Hat” also contains a group of texts that were mentioned in the book.8- The chanting priest “Ptah Menophis” whose tomb contains the entire texts of the book, and the texts are found in rooms and the corridor numbered 18 and 19.9- The tomb of Ramesses IX contains the first plate of the book through the fifth plate.
